forgive的用法详解
1、forgive sb. sth. 是双宾语,sth. 是直接宾语,指“免除掉的事物”或“原谅了的东西”,sb. 是间接宾语,指接受“免除或原谅的人”含义是“对某人作出原谅某事的举动”.forgive sb. for sth. 中的 for sth. 是原因状语,指“由于所犯的错误而原谅某人”或“原谅某人所犯的错误”.如：
She could not forgive him his infidelities. 她无法对他作出原谅其不忠行为的举动.
She could not forgive him for his infidelities.,她无法由于他的不忠行为而原谅他本人.
二者区别在于前者强调“不能原谅的就是不忠行为”,后者强调“不能原谅的是他本人及其所作所为,原因是他有不忠行为”.
2、forgive sb. sth 中的直接宾语只能用名词。如：
Still, for those flashes of genius, you can forgive him anything. 尽管如此,他瞬间显露出的天赋还是会让你原谅他所做的一切.
The American Congress has agreed to forgive Egypt'smilitary debt. 美国国会同意免除埃及的军事债务.
3、forgive sb. for sth. 中介词宾语 sth. 除了用名词外,还可以用 what从句或动名词短语,也可以用作被动态的保留宾语.如：
what 从句——
I'll never forgive her for what she did. 我绝不会原谅她做的事.
I'll never forgive you for what you said to me last night.我绝不会宽恕你昨晚对我所说的话.

4、forgive sb. for sth. 常用被动语态 can be forgivenfor 表示“某事可得到原谅”.如：
