1）物质名词可数的情况
a.当物质名词转化为个体名词时。
比较：Cake is a kind of food.蛋糕是一种食物。（不可数）
These cakes are sweet.这些蛋糕很好吃。（可数）
b.当物质名词表示该物质的种类时，名词可数。
This factory produces steel.（不可数）
We need various steels.（可数）
c.当物质名词表示份数时，可数。
Our country is famous for tea.
我国因茶叶而闻名。
Two teas，please.
请来两杯茶。
2）抽象名词有时也可数
four freedoms 四大自由
the four modernizations四个现代化
物质名词和抽象名词可以借助单位词表一定的数量。
如：
a glass of water 一杯水
a piece of advice 一条建议
3）不可数名词量化使用
不可数名词如需用数量来修饰，需在前面搭配上合适的表示数量的词或短语
1、不可数名词的数量一般用some , much , a lot of , lots of , a bit of , a little , little等数量形容词表示。
eg: some meat 一些肉 a lot of money很多钱 a little water 一点水
2、不可数名词的数量还可以用适当的量词（由普通名词充当）作单位来表示，
结构为“数词+量词（普通名词）+ of + 不可数名词”。其单复数变化就体现在普通名词上。
eg: a piece of paper 一张纸 three pieces of paper 三张纸
3、一些常见的用来表示不可数名词数量的词
①piece(条、块、片、张、份、则)
eg:
a piece of meat 一块肉
a piece of bread 一片面包
two pieces of advice 两条意见
a piece of news 一条消息/一则新闻
②glass(玻璃杯) , cup(茶杯) , bottle(瓶)
eg:
a glass of milk 一杯牛奶
a cup of tea 一杯茶
six bottles of beer 六瓶啤酒
③loaf(条)、bar(块)、tin(听，罐)
eg:
a loaf of bread 一条面包
a bar of soap 一块肥皂
a tin of tobacco 一听/罐烟丝
④basket(篮)、bag(袋)、box(箱，盒)
eg:
a basket of food 一篮食物
five bags of rice 五袋大米
a box of wine 一箱白酒
⑤kilo(公斤)、pound(磅)
eg:
a pound of sugar 一磅糖

4）不可数名词的数量表达
不定冠词 "a，an" 和基数词不能直接修饰不可数名词，而某些表示个体性的单位词如"piece，bit"等可以与不可数名词连用表示定量关系。这种单位词有四类。
一. 表示个数，如"piece，bit"等。例如：
a piece of paper 一张纸
a bit of wood 一片木头
二. 表示形状，如"cake，slice，block，ear，bar"等。例如：
a cake of soap 一块肥皂
a block of ice 一块冰
a slice of meat 一片肉
an ear of wheat 一穗麦子
a bar of chocolate 一条巧克力
三.表示容积，如"cup，bottle，bowl，bag，glass，box"等，例如：
a cup of tea 一杯茶
a bowl of rice 一碗饭
a bottle of milk 一瓶牛奶
a bag of rice 一袋米
two glasses of water 两杯水
注意：可数名词后可加"-s"，不可数名词后不能加"-s"。
a box of books 一箱书
two boxes of books 两箱书
四.表示动作或状态，如"burst，gust"等，例如：
a burst of laughter 一阵笑声
a gust of wind 一阵风
