quite 英[kwaɪt] 美[kwaɪt]

quite是一个副词,意思是“完全; 相当,很; 确实如此”。

1、quite与一些表示“完整”、“完全”的意思的词或词组如all right,certain,determined,empty,finished,ready,right,sure,wrong等连用,或与一些具有强烈感情色彩的形容词、副词如amazing,extraordinary,horrible,perfect等连用时,它的意思是“完全地”、“全然地

The bottle was quite empty.瓶子全空了。

You're quite wrong.你完全错了。

She is quite right.她完全正确。

This is quite impossible.这是完全不可能的。

2、着重于表达某事是正确的,而很少强调“很,非常”的意思。

I felt quite bitter about it at the time.
当时我对这件事感到相当怨愤。

I was doing quite well, but I wasn't earning a lot of money.
我干得还算不错,可是挣的钱却不算多。

Well, actually it requires quite a bit of work and research.

5、作限定词,修饰名词强调这个名词令人印象深刻或不同寻常。

5、作副词,常在口语中表示“确实如此”,同某人的观点。

'And if you buy the record it's your choice isn't it.'—'Quite'.

'I won't say over the air who it is.'—'No, quite.'
“我不会在电话里说出那个人是谁。”——“对,的确应该这样。”
